Waves for Change Program

Learn how your School can become Change Makers

What is Waves for Change Program

Welcome to the Waves for Change Program at Sandgate Bottle & Can Exchange! This dedicated initiative empowers schools, daycares, and early education centres to actively participate in the Containers for Change scheme by collecting 10-cent eligible drink containers. By joining the program, educational institutions not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also raise valuable funds to support their activities. With over $10.2 million raised for Queensland schools and community groups since 2018, Waves for Change provides resources, infrastructure, and educational materials to help schools implement and manage their container collection programs effectively. Join us in making a positive impact on both the environment and our community!

What the Program Offers

The Waves for Change Program offers a comprehensive support system to schools, daycares, and early education centres, enabling them to participate in the Containers for Change scheme.

The program provides:

  • Free bins for collection on school campuses.
  • Free collection services for the collected containers.
  • Educational resources to teach students about recycling.
  • Fundraising toolkits to help schools promote their programs.
  • Complimentary collection bags for every student.
  • Support for managing and promoting recycling efforts.

Making the most of the program

The Waves for Change Program also offers additional support for special events such as movie nights, school fêtes, and other fundraising activities. Schools can benefit from extra bins and collection services specifically for these occasions, ensuring maximum container returns and increased fundraising potential. By providing tailored support for these events, Waves for Change helps schools capitalize on every opportunity to raise funds while promoting recycling and environmental responsibility within the community.

Making it Easy for Your School

We pride ourselves on being the only commercial option that offers the full 10 cents per container without any service fees. This means you receive the maximum refund for every container you recycle, providing a direct financial benefit to your business while supporting environmental initiatives.

We provide detailed data on your recycling efforts, helping you to track your progress and meet your sustainability goals. Our reports link your container collections to environmental and social indices, giving you valuable insights into the positive impact your business is making.

There are no setup or ongoing costs involved in our program. We supply you with collection bins and other necessary infrastructure free of charge. This allows you to focus on recycling without worrying about additional expenses, making it easy and cost-effective to participate

To enhance visibility and encourage participation, we offer recognisable branded bins for high-foot traffic areas. These bins are designed to be easily identifiable, promoting proper disposal of containers and reinforcing your commitment to sustainability.
